Jeremy Sanders to give Cedric Hassall talk 2011

We are pleased to announce that Jeremy Sanders will give the Cedric Hassall talk this year (2011). He will review some of the research discoveries of Dudley Williams, who sadly passed away in late 2010.

The Gregynog Natural Products Symposia were initiated by Professor Cedric Hassall FRS in 1967. He contributed significantly to the bioorganic area, including the area of peptide antibiotics and peptidomimetics, as well as to medical institutes in the UK. He was also was the first professor of Chemistry at the University of the West Indies, Mona (photos), and head from 1947-1957.

Vern Schramm to give the RSC’s Bioorganic Group Lecture 2010

We are pleased that Vern Schramm has accepted our invitation to present the 2010 Bioorganic Group Lecture on ‘Transition state analogues and dynamics in catalysis’.

The Royal Society of Chemistry’s Bioorganic group acts to promote science at the interface of chemistry and biology mainly by organizing and sponsoring a large number of meetings such as ESBOC, Chemistry of the Cell, the Bioorganic Forum, Nucleic Acids at the Chemistry-Biology Interface, the yearly Postgraduate Meeting, and Directing Biosynthesis.
